Visit a National Memorial

Bedford’s National D-Day Memorial is a poignant dedication to the valor and sacrifices of Allied forces on D-Day in 1944. The memorial features life-like sculptures, a reflecting pool, and a dramatic central arch. Across the manicured grounds are educational plaques and displays that convey the history of this pivotal invasion during World War II. Many visitors wonder: Why is Bedford home to this memorial? It’s because this small town, which today has fewer than 7,000 residents, suffered the highest per capita D-Day losses in the United States.

The center is located within historic Green’s Drugstore, a watering hole frequented by these young men before they headed off to fight for freedom in World War II.
