As Deputy Editor, Lisa works with Southern Living's Food and Travel departments to create and edit print and digital content including the annual South's Best Awards. Lisa is based in Birmingham and joined the team in 2015 as senior food editor.

Experience

Lisa Cericola has been on staff at Southern Living since 2015. Lisa has worked in media for her entire career and has more than 15 years of experience writing, editing, and managing photo shoots for print and digital lifestyle brands.

As Deputy Editor, Lisa manages the food and travel departments and edits those sections of each issue. She collaborates with the Southern Living Test Kitchen to conceptualize print and digital recipes, and develops original recipes as well. Lisa works with the Southern Living Art and Photo teams on photo shoots, including covers. She also represents Southern Living at events and panels.

In 2019, the brand won a Culinary Travel Writing Award from the International Association of Culinary Professionals. In 2018, Southern Living was nominated in the Home Cooking category at the James Beard Foundation Media Awards. In 2022, “The Magic of Meringue” (April 2021) won Best Service and Lifestyle story in the American Association of Magazine Editors for photography and illustration.

Previously, Lisa was the features editor at Food Network Magazine. Before that, she was the digital food editor at iVillage, which was owned by NBC Universal and one of the first digital sites for women, and prior to that, she was the style editor at BizBash Media, where she covered annual events like the James Beard Foundation Awards and Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs.
