Mississippi punch dates back more than 160 years to when it first appeared in Jerry Thomas's Bon Vivant's Companion. This refreshingly sippable drink is made with a wide array of ingredients that would have been sourced from all over those early United States—brandy from France, rum from the Caribbean, bourbon from Kentucky, and so on. Today, it's coming back into popularity thanks to shows like Palm Royale, along with other timeless tipples like the grasshopper and a gin Rickey. This drink is potent, we'll remind you, so sip slowly, and enjoy. Ingredients 2 oz. (1/4 cup) cognac or brandy 1 oz. (2 Tbsp.) bourbon 1 oz. (2 Tbsp.) dark rum 1 oz. (2 Tbsp.) fresh lemon juice 2 tsp. honey Ice Directions Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker; shake until honey dissolves. Add ice to shaker; shake vigorously for 20 shakes. Strain into an ice-filled glass. Rate It Print
