Granola is good for so much more than just yogurt. It lends this mixed berry smoothie a rich and nutty flavor, as well as a surprising warmth, thanks to the added spices.

The sweet and tart berries give the drink its deep purple color, and you can use a mix of any varieties you have on hand. We recommend using a blend of fresh and frozen for the best texture in your smoothie, but if the fruit is out-of-season, frozen is your best bet, since it was packaged while the berries were in-season and in peak ripeness.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen blackberries (from 1 [18-oz.] pkg.)

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries (3 1/2 oz.)

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries (4 3/4 oz.)

  • 1 cup pecan-oat granola (such as Early Bird Farmhand’s Choice)

  • 1/2 cup plain or vanilla whole-milk strained (Greek-style) yogurt

  • 1/2 cup pomegranate-tart cherry juice (such as Smart Juice)

Directions

  1. Process blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, granola, yogurt, and juice in a blender until smooth, about 1 minute. Serve immediately.
