It lends this mixed berry smoothie a rich and nutty flavor, as well as a surprising warmth, thanks to the added spices. The sweet and tart berries give the drink its deep purple color, and you can use a mix of any varieties you have on hand. We recommend using a blend of fresh and frozen for the best texture in your smoothie, but if the fruit is out-of-season, frozen is your best bet, since it was packaged while the berries were in-season and in peak ripeness.
