Sam's Club

Southerners love a bargain, and often, retailers like Sam's Club are the key to saving a few bucks. When buying in bulk, however, you have to be careful that what you're buying is actually a good deal for the quantity and quality. These are the items Southern Living editors are always sure to snap up when they make a trip to Sam's Club.

Groceries

Rotisserie Chicken

Rotisserie chicken is the shortcut to plenty of our favorite quick weeknight meals, but it's not always as cost-effective as buying chicken breasts or thighs to cook yourself. At Sam's Club, however, you can bet that bird is worth it. With a price that remains at about $5, rotisserie chicken is a must-have on your Sam's Club run.

Salad Kits

Salad kits are a weeknight dinner hero, and Sam’s Club has tons of options. “There’s no shame in the shortcut game,” says Senior Homes and Features Editor Betsy Cribb Watson. “Everything you need is right there, packaged in tidy, perfectly proportioned packets. Skip the never-ending loop around the grocery store and secure everything you need with one reach into the produce section’s refrigerators.”

Litehouse Homestyle Ranch Dressing and Dip

Sam’s Club is one of the only retailers where our editors have spotted large bottles of this classic dressing and dip. “As far as I’m concerned, it is the only store-bought ranch worth purchasing,” says Editor Kaitlyn Yarborough Sadik.

Croissants

Senior Travel and Culture Editor Tara Massouleh McCay says the Sam’s Club bakery’s croissants are “great for entertaining.” The next time you have weekend guests, keep these buttery pastries in mind for a beautiful and no-effort morning spread.

Household Essentials

Paper Towels & Toilet Paper

If there are two things your house will always need more of its toilet paper and paper towels. Southern Living editors never leave Sam's Club without them. Go for the store's Member's Mark brand for the best deals.

Laundry & Dish Detergent

"One of the reasons I always renew my Sam's Club membership is because of the savings on both laundry and dish detergent," says Senior Digital Editor Jenna Sims. "They're a fraction of the price per ounce compared to other grocery stores."

Trash Bags

Like the above mentioned household essentials, buying trash bags at Sam's Club is a must. "A box of Member's Mark Trash Bags will last my household for years," says Sims. "They're just 8 cents per bag."

Tires

It's no secret that tires are expensive, and buyers are wary of being up charged depending on where they purchase. At Sam's Club, you can save on top brands and order online to make the process easier than ever. Your purchase of tires at Sam's also includes free roadside assistance and road hazard protection for four years as well as lifetime tire balance, rotation, and flat repair. Plus, you can shop while they're being installed, a win-win!

Windshield Wipers

"I previously paid way too much for windshield wipers so I was so happy to find out they sold them at Sam's Club," says Sims. "I paid under $12 per wiper, with free installation included! I'll never purchase them elsewhere again!"

Gas

Sam's Club can meet all your car's needs, including filling up your tank. Members can expect to save at least 5 cents per gallon (sometimes more!), which adds up in the long run. Affordable fuel alone might be a good enough excuse for getting a Sam's Club membership if you don't have one. Plus, you can use the club's Scan & Go app at the pump, so you can easily pay for your gas without having to swipe your membership card and payment.

Miscellaneous

Menswear

After filling your buggy with food and household staples, don’t skip the clothes department at Sam’s Club, especially the men’s section. “They have a lot of great menswear,” says McCay. Including “name-brand golf polos, Eddie Bauer hiking pants, fishing shirts, etc., for very good prices.

Stores where you can shop in bulk are convenient for big families, entertaining, and household essentials. Did we leave any of your must-have Sam's Club products off the list?

Books

From cookbooks to beach reads to children's books, Sam's Club sells books that are currently on the shelves at other stores for much lower prices. "I can always find a book or two to grab for upcoming trips, and I've picked up countless as gifts," says Sims.
